Craig Thompson steps into the Talkie Hutt this week to chat about his books. Craig is the author of Goodbye Chunky Rice, Blankets, and Carnet de Voyage, all published by Top Shelf, and most recently, this past fall's hugely successful Habibi, published by Pantheon. Craig fills me in on how the past six months since the launch of his book have gone, and how he's started moving on to making new work.
I was interested to hear that Craig is cartooning pals with Joe Sacco and Theo Ellsworth, who, like Craig, are guys who draw impressively detailed comics that I assume take a lot of time to complete. I suspect the three of them egg each other on to see who can make the most labor-intensive pages. I am not sure who is winning...
