Kicking and Screaming By Gary Groth
Underground comics legend Spain, best known for his expressive realism and personal tales of 1950s and 1960s biker culture, may be the last cartoonist you would expect to make the jump to online comics. But his Dark Hotel strip for the popular daily newsmagazine Salon.com may in fact be the most highly visible comic of that medium. Editor Gary Groth caught up with Spain to discuss the role of comics on the Internet, the success of Dark Hotel and the potential of digital technology.
